Building relationships with community stakeholders in Western PA to build our Reuse and Deconstruction economy.

Description

Construction and Demolition waste is more than twice that of Municipal Solid Waste yet many of us don't think too much about it. We don't dare to throw away a soda can yet we "throw away" entire buildings.

With our global building stock estimated to double by 2060, and estimates that 1/3 of our present existing stock will be demolished by 2050, we can no longer ignore this incomprehensible waste.

Even in the time of COVID when the economy is crashing, we should not assume this growth will fail to continue in the future as we come out of it. We cannot continue in this direction and during this slow time we all have the opportunity to take some time to rethink how we live on this planet.

So our goal for this forum is to gather together local representatives of all the various players that have a part in how we construct, manage, rebuild, and remove our buildings so that together we can plan for a future where economic viability lives along side of environmental sustainability and far less waste. We will hear from national and local reuse professionals to learn what is happening across the nation, and here in our back yard. Then  connect and see what we can do right here, together, in more systematic and coordinated ways.

So we hope you all will join us as we look together at the options in Western PA.

This Forum is virtual and free. After you register, you will get an automated response letting you know that "we will register you once your payment is approved". Please ignore that, it's something in the system we can't seem to change.

Closer to the event, you will receive an email with the Zoom Forum link and instructions for virtual attendance.
